The CARes Project is a certified Community Financial Development Institution (CDFI)* funded in part by the US Treasury. The CDFI fund matches locally raised dollars to help support our Car Ownership Program.

As of 2019, The United Way of Forsyth County joined The CARes Project in our mission to assist low-income working adults buy a quality used car with a warranty, build their credit score, and learn how to manage their money.

In 2022, The Winston-Salem Foundation granted The CARes Project a $50,000 operational expenses grant.  This award greatly assists us in expanding our work in the local community to provide loans to residents who are in need of reliable transportation in order to gain financial independence.

The CARes Project is grateful for the financial assistance BB&T provides to our organization, providing over $24,000 in donated funds for The CARes Project.

In 2023, United Way of Davidson County granted $6152 to The CARes Project to support our efforts to help qualifying Davidson county residents buy reliable used vehicles.
